Fourth Sunday after Epiphany

Prayer of the Day

Lord God of wisdom and love, you work with your people and calm our fears, sending us prophets from the days of old. Grant that we may remember that you are our salvation, even in the midst of our trials and tribulations. All this we ask through your Son,  Jesus Christ our Lord who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Eucharistic Prayer

O God of wisdom and strength,  you are our dwelling place in all generations, sending your peoples help and leaders  in all our times of  trouble–Moses and the prophets, and, our greatest help, Jesus. He came among humanity, healing the sick, uplifting the outcast, and casting out unclean spirits.

In the night in which he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus took bread, and gave thanks, broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take and eat! This is my body, given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.

Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this in remembrance of me.

Through Christ Jesus’ death and resurrection, we are saved. As often as we eat this bread and drink this cup, we proclaim Christ’s death until he comes again in glory.

Christ has died. Christ has risen. Christ will come again.

Send down your Holy Spirit, O Lord, upon these gifts and upon your people, that we may be ready when the time of the Lord is at hand. All this we ask through your Son Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you, in unity with the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen.
