Confession and Absolution
Lord God,
We have not always done as we ought. We have looked to the cross and seen death instead of life in your Son. We have looked at others and seen who we think we should be instead of who you created us to be. We have taken the gifts you have given us, and tried to turn them into the gifts we think we should have. Grant in us O God the power to see ourselves and others as you see us.
Isaiah writes: “Then the Lord GOD will wipe away the tears from all faces, and the disgrace of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the LORD has spoken.” I declare that all your sins are forgiven in the name of the Father + and the Son + and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Prayer of the Day
O God of wonder and might, You open our minds to the Scriptures and all that You do. Grant that we may remember this in all that we do and all that we meet. All this we ask through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
Proper Preface
P: It is indeed right, our duty and our joy that we should at all times and in all places give thanks to you, most merciful God, through our resurrected Savior Jesus Christ. You bring new life to the world. You have conquered sin and death. You overwhelm us with light and chase away darkness. You come to us again in this holy meal, calling us to share in the new life that only you can give. And so with all the hosts of heaven, the angels and archangels, we praise your name and join their unending hymn: “Holy, Holy, Holy.”
Eucharistic Prayer
O God of wisdom and strength, your spirit comes upon us and call us your children, sending Jesus to all humanity: to teach, preach, bear witness to the coming kingdom, and to die–so that the body of sin might be destroyed.
In the night in which he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus took bread, and gave thanks, broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take and eat! This is my body, given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.
Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this in remembrance of me.
Through Christ Jesus’ death and resurrection, we are saved, dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. As often as we eat this bread and drink this cup, we proclaim Christ’s death until he comes again in glory.
Christ has died. Christ has risen. Christ will come again.
Send down your Holy Spirit, O Lord, upon these gifts and upon your people, clothing us with power from on high, that we may be ready when the time of the Lord is at hand. All this we ask through your Son Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you, in unity with the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen.
Blessing
May the Risen Lord of all bless you now and forever in the name of the Father, and of the Son, + and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Dismissal
He is Risen! He is Risen Indeed!
Go in peace, proclaim the Good News! Thanks be to God!
